Guido Callarelli

Guido Callarelli

I feel a strong connection to and sense of pride in the fact that my roots were planted in the land of the masterful poet Dante Alighieri, the revolutionary conceptual painter and sculptor Lucio Fontana, the visionary contemporary architect Renzo Piano, and the legendary haute couturier Valentino.

For this reason, in conceiving this poster, I wanted to metaphorically rid myself of my previous culture in order to become firmly rerooted in my present.

To communicate this, I married the might and clarity of strong typography with the preciseness of the global navigation system of latitude and longitude while using a neutral color palette that works to denote rather than define the location.

The geographic coordinates on this poster belong to New York City, my current base. It is these very coordinates that represent both my new identity and my idea of home: ME, HERE and NOW as well as celebrate my experience of living fully. This being said, I could envision this being a lifelong project whereby I create a new work for each of the bases that I will occupy in the future to celebrate not only my experiences but my continuing journey.

Graphic designer Guido Callarelli was born in 1986 in Tuscany, Italy.
He moved to Milan after high school, and after a course in visual design at the Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD), he began working with Art Director Armando Chitolina.

At Chitolina’s studio he specialized in editorial design, working on books and catalogues, handling all aspects of projects from the creative phase
to production and dealing directly with clients, photographers, photo retouchers and printers. He began freelancing on the side to develop his personal style and gain additional work experience.

Guido Callarelli specializes
in graphic design and advertising for the fashion industry in New York City, and is now working at V Agency.
